The Boring Artist Launchpad’s inaugural artist
From Hong Kong to Berlin — now Tokyo, then Kuala Lumpur
An inaugural solo exhibition curated by The Boring Nation as part of The Artist Launchpad, this touring show marks KELLYHOSY's formal introduction to the contemporary art scene.
Through KELLYHOSY's distinctive character-driven visual language, everyday fresh produce become the protagonists — 'unhinged optimists' navigating burnout, apathy, and over-stimulation in modern urban life.
Now — Tokyo.
Sour Notes 🍋 — the very first piece that truly opened doors for KELLYHOSY's artistic journey — has been selected for NAFAS Festival Tokyo, co-presented by The Invisible Dog (New York City) and BUoY Arts Center (Tokyo). Bringing together 60 international artists, the festival features 12 events, performances, workshops, and residencies centered around one theme: The meeting of art and food.
Exhibition Dates:
September 4–26, 2026 · BUoY Arts Center, Tokyo · free admission
Opening reception:
Friday, September 4, 6:30–9:30 PM
And if Tokyo is a little far — the shop wakes up when the show does. shop.kellyhosy.com opens September 4, for as long as Sour Notes is on the wall. When the show closes, the shop does too.
Next stop:
KUALA LUMPUR
Exhibition Period
October - November, 2026
HOSY & Co. head home to Kuala Lumpur next. A new city, a new member of the gang. Details soon.
Past cities:
BERLIN - The last act:
Exhibition Period
July 15-23, 2026
In Collaboration with:
Culterim.de
Location:
Kalckreuthstraße 4, 10777 Berlin
In July, HOSY & Co. took over a street-facing Schaufenster at Kalckreuthstraße 4, Berlin — the characters stepping from canvas onto glass, publicly viewable from the pavement. Berlin also unveiled the newest member of the cast: Meltdown Sundae 🍌, first revealed only through a peephole on site.
HONG KONG - Where it opened:
Exhibition Period
March 27 – May 3, 2026
In Collaboration with:
Tiny Space Gallery
Location:
32-34 Tai Ping Shan Street, Sheung Wan
It began in Hong Kong, at Tiny Space Gallery — the humble corner store turned theatrical stage, where the full cast of The Drama Produce-rs (果然有戲) took their first bow, March 27 to May 3, 2026. Hong Kong introduced Corn 🌽 to the HOSY & Co. gang, and the audience left their mark too: hand-drawn fake produce, made on site, that has travelled with the show ever since.
About the artist
KELLYHOSY is a Malaysian-born visual artist whose practice centres on character-driven narratives exploring identity, emotional labour, and the quiet absurdities of contemporary life. Drawing inspiration from everyday objects and urban rituals, her work imbues the mundane with theatrical personality, inviting viewers to find humour, pathos, and recognition in unexpected places. The Drama Produce-rs marks her debut solo exhibition and formal introduction to the international contemporary art scene as the inaugural artist of The Boring Artist Launchpad.
